We have two dogs and one cat, at least we used to. Our cat is a tuxedo cat named Oreo, but she will also answer (or at least look at you) if you call her cat, Satan's bride or psycho. Our female dog is a Shepherd/Husky mix and our male dog is a black lab. Last year our dogs decided to not follow our house rules and the boy dog went into the girls room alone with the female............yeah. So we ended up with a litter of nine puppies. Here I would like to give a shout out to my nephew for watching them while we were on vacation for about two weeks. (Pausing while you chuckle...go ahead...we did.) This last week, after another episode of not obeying the rules (again) we were blessed with a litter of 10 puppies.
Here are a few lessons I have learned from puppies about Christians while I have spent time watching and playing with the fur-balls.
1. Like puppies, Christians need to dog pile. We need each other. That is one HUGE reason the writer of Hebrews said to come together as a church.
2. Like puppies, Christians need to play with one another. It can't always be about volunteering. We need time to chill-ax, hang out and have fun...together.
3. Like puppies, Christians need time around those older than them (spiritually and physically) so they know how to live as a Christians. Titus 2 anyone?
4. Like puppies, Christians need to get to the milk of the word often. Yes, we also need the meat, however; we should never move past the basics. 1 Peter 2:1-3
5. Like puppies, Christians nee to grow. You cannot stay a Christian puppy forever. Eventually you need to grow up. Too many don't. Puppies are cute when they are puppies. When a person has been saved 10-20-30-40-50 years and still acts like a newborn child, they need a come to Jesus moment with one who loves them.
OK, enough for now. If you have any more that you can think of, please leave a comment below. Oh, and if you were wondering....

There is no debate that the western church is alive. She is active. She is well. That being said, some would debate those statements. What I say here, to some, will be offensive and harsh. That is not the intent. The intent is tha t it is time for us to be honest with ourselves and the people of God. 1 Peter 4:17 states that “it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God.” Now you may be thinking, “Who are you to judge?” I am of the household of God and throughout Scripture it tells us to examine ourselves, so I am examining. Within our culture, here in the west, we have allowed those who are clubs to maintain that they are churches. People gather at these clubs to hear what they want to hear, to be entertained, and to set their own agenda. Men and women of God, we should be aware of these places, and we should stop calling them churches. Here are three ways you can tell if your “church” is a cl...
Kingdom Culture and Focus Prevailed My wife and I attended the Southern Baptist Convention that met last week in Dallas, Texas. I want to share what happened, as I know you have likely heard or read things in the news that may seem troubling to you. Let me assure you, all is not how it seems. Yet in all, there is usually a grain of truth. I went into this year’s convention meetings on my face before God begging for unity, wisdom, and peace. I was troubled in my spirit over major issues that we would be facing that could split us apart if we let our personalities, personal desires, and personal agendas get in the way and hinder our reliance upon God, Himself. There were two major issues that I knew we were facing. We would be electing a new president, as Steve Gaines’ term came to an end, and we would be dealing with heartache and heartbreak over the firing of Dr. Paige Patterson as the president of Southwest Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texa...
Social Media is a wonder of technology. With social media I have been able to meet new friends around the world, keep up with those in my circle of influence and have an outlet for my viewpoints. However, I have seen the extent, to which anything that goes unchecked have a terrible price that is paid because of misuse, that social media has had on people's lives. Let me state, that I am not against social media, but I do believe each person needs to be certain that they use and are not used by it. So, here is the voice in me screaming out about the use of social media, please forgive my rant for a moment. Quit complaining about your spouse or significant other on social media. Quit letting everyone in the world know what is going on in your life and/or your thoughts before you tell the one(s) you love. Quit spending so much time with the world through social media that you lose focus on what is actually happening in your own home. In short, qu...
